Fireman Switch & Pool Heaters: Yay or Nay?

What exactly does a fireman switch do? A fireman switch shuts down your pool heater about fifteen minutes before the pump shuts off. Therefore, this tool was beneficial for older gas heaters because they accumulated much more heat.

Not Needed As Much Today

Fireman switches are no longer needed with newer heaters. Because newer pool heaters decrease heat quickly, most people agree fireman switches aren’t needed. However, confirm with your local code requirements because some municipalities still require it.
